Capital Requirements Directive
The Capital Requirements Directive is European law which affects banks, building societies and certain investment firms. It aims to ensure the financial soundness of credit institutions. It stipulates the financial resources that firms must hold to cover their risks and protect their depositors.
There is an ongoing programme of implementation of the various packages of amendments from Europe, and we continue to take an interest in the FSA’s translation of the requirements into rules, as they affect smaller firms.
