Members of the panel Smaller Businesses Practitioner Panel

Who sits on the panel...?

SBPP PanelThe Panel is maintained by the FSA as part of its overall arrangements for consulting the financial services industry, and its membership is composed of senior practitioners from smaller firms across all sectors. This ensures that the Panel has the necessary balance of knowledge and skills to communicate with the FSA from a position of independence, authority and expertise.

The Panel is currently chaired by Simon Bolam, who also represents the interests of small firms as an ex-officio member of the Financial Services Practitioner Panel which has statutory status under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. This is so that the views of smaller firms are not only specifically represented by a dedicated peer-group, but also at the strategic and most senior industry level.

Appointments to the Panel are generally based on nominations made by relevant trade associations and following a thorough due diligence process. The Panel's membership is kept under regular review to ensure that its composition continues to be relevant and appropriate in relation to the ever changing regulated landscape.
