Ian Templeton
Ian is Managing Director and CEO of UIA (Insurance) Ltd and subsidiary companies. UIA is a personal lines mutual insurance company, established over 100 years ago to meet the insurance needs of trade union members. It now provides home insurance, travel insurance, pet insurance and car insurance to not-for-profit organisations and the general public as well as trade unions. Ian is also a non-executive of a Guernsey based legal expenses captive reinsurer Legal ATE Limited.
Background
Ian is a qualified senior insurance professional with experience in operations, sales and marketing of primarily small to medium sized general insurance companies. He has additional experience of working as an insurance broker and as the insurance manager for a large building society.
Ian is a past President of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and continues to hold a number of roles there, as well as being a member of the ABI’s General Insurance Forum.
Particular areas of interest on the Panel
Ian is firmly committed to supporting the proper supervision of companies in the financial services sector. He recognises the need for risk based, proportionate and effective regulation for smaller companies. He takes a particular interest in the impact of regulation on insurance providers.
